Orthodontic Braces El Monte, CA

The development, prevention, and correction of the teeth bite, and jaws are the main focus of Orthodontics Treatments. The dentists who have specialized training in treating facial abnormalities and jaw disorders are known as orthodontists.

Orthodontic treatment such as braces will help rectify your child’s bite and chew and refine their communicative abilities. The teeth tend to look nice if they function correctly. An attractive smile is a pleasing side effect of orthodontic treatment, and it can also contribute to the emotional well-being of a child. The orthodontic treatment work towards bringing the teeth, lips, and face into proportion, and as a consequence, self-confidence and self-esteem are enhanced. Straightened teeth are less susceptible to decay, gum disease, and injury.

What are the different types of Braces?

  • Traditional Metal Braces:These kinds of braces are much more economical than other types of orthodontic treatments. Traditional braces also provide quick treatment options. As they are fabricated from stainless steel, they can align your child’s teeth quickly and effectively. Traditional braces involve attaching a metal bracket to the teeth and an archwire across all the through the brackets, and the wire is secured in position with the help of tiny rubber bands. The duration of the treatment depends on the severity of the teeth’ condition and, on average, takes about 1-2 years.
  • Ceramic Braces: They are akin to traditional braces. However, ceramic braces are fabricated from transparent materials, which makes them less noticeable than conventional braces. Ceramic braces need brackets to be bonded to your child’s teeth. The brackets will have an archwire running through them, held in place with rubber bands. The ceramic braces procedure is similar to metal braces, and the child will have to visit the dentist regularly to have their wires and bands adjusted to produce more pressure to move the teeth to their correct spots. The treatment duration is as same as that for metal braces.
  • Invisalign Braces: These braces provide an excellent alternative for children who resist getting braces due to their visibility. Invisalign offers the same effect as traditional braces, but they are virtually invisible. The most attractive benefit of Invisalign braces is that they are not noticeable when worn and thus do not hamper the outward appearance. Children opting for Invisalign don’t have to sacrifice their favorite foods as the Invisalign braces can be removed while eating, and hence you don’t have to worry about food getting stuck in or damaging their braces. The average treatment duration for an Invisalign brace is about 6-12 months; it is lesser than the other options.
  • Lingual Braces: A lesser recognized type of orthodontic treatment, lingual braces, are a type of braces attached behind the teeth. As they are located behind the teeth, lingual braces are much less apparent than traditional braces and are another good option for an insecure child. Lingual braces can offer a better alternative than Invisalign if your child is prone to misplacing the aligners.
